Born in Bedford, he graduated from Bedford High School, attended Ohio State University and graduated from Cleveland Institute of Banking. He was a championship wrestler in high school, winning the 145-pound state championships in 1954 and 1955. He was a past president of the Walton Hills Lake Club and a member of Walton Hills Men's Club, the Flats Oxbow Association and many other civic organizations. He belonged to Bedford First United Methodist Church. Mr. Kucera enjoyed fishing, golf and gardening.
He was the husband for 31 years of Marty, nee Kehres; father of Mark of Michigan and Bethany of Columbus; and brother of two. Services were at Johnson-Romito Funeral Home and burial was in Bedford Cemetery. (Bedford Times-Register, Thurs. Feb 2, 1995)
