Virginia Ann Reiser was born at Earling, Iowa, January 16, 1931, the daughter of Joe and Cecilia Mumm Munchrath. She was raised at Earling where she received her education at St. Joseph's Catholic School. On December 28, 1950, Virginia was united in marriage with Joe Reiser at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Earling. Their union was blessed with 13 children. They made their home on a farm at Manilla, Iowa, before purchasing their farm west of Denison in 1951. Virginia was a homemaker all of her life lovingly caring for their large family. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially caring for the grandchildren, gardening, cooking, baking and talking on the phone. Following retirement Joe and Virginia moved to Denison where she had since resided. When her health permitted she was an active member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison, St. Rose Ladies Guild, Crawford County Memorial Hosptial Auxiliary, WESCO Auxiliary, American Legion Auxilary and the Twin Club. Virginia died late Sunday, May 20, 2007, at St. Anthony's Regional Hospital in Carroll, Iowa. At the time of her death she had been blessed with 76 years, 4 months and 4 days. In addition to her parents, Joe and Cecilia Munchrath, Virginia was preceded in death by one sister, Irene Schmidt, three sons, Freddie, Billy and Dean and one granddaughter, Alesha Mahaney. Those remaining to cherish her memory include her husband of over 56 years, Joe Reiser of Denison, ten children, Glenda and husband, Vincent Mahaney of Denison, Paul Reiser of Denison, Gerard Reiser of Denison, Denny Reiser and wife, Dawn of Denison, Janet Reiser of Carroll, Iowa, Brian Reiser of Des Moines, Iowa, Kevin Reiser and wife, Kristy of Bakersfield, California, Dr. Daniel Reiser and wife, Meghan of Colorardo Springs, Colorado, Allan Reiser of Denison and his twin sister Anne Lehmann and husband, Robert of Ames, Iowa, 16 grandchildren, two sisters, Alva Mages of Panama, Iowa, and Norma Ohlinger of Pocahontas, Iowa, other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 25, 2007, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Denison, Iowa, with Father Paul J. Kelly as Celebrant and Father Lloyd White Con-Celebrating. Others participating in the mass included Christian Symbol Placers, Joe and the children; Servers, Alex Cortez and Emily Blum; Lectors, CarLee Reiser and Alex Reiser; Petitions, Angela Wannberg and Sarah Mahaney; Honorary Gift Bearers, McKenna and Madison Reiser; Gift Bearers, Mary Reiser, Meredith Lehmann, Kaci, Jordan and Nicole Reiser and Beatrice Goder-Reiser and Eucharistic Ministers, Larry Schwarte and Joan Gray. Music for the Mass was provided by Emily Mahaney singing "Gift of Finest Wheat", Bob Mages singing "Hail Mary, Gentle Woman" and St. Rose of Lima Adult Choir singing "How Great Thou Art" and "On Eagles Wings". Judy Thams served as accompanist. Honorary pall bearers included Alva Mages, Norma Ohlinger, Herb Reiser, Ron Reiser, Matt Reiser, Charles Reiser, Sylvia Blum, Frank Reiser and Leon Schmidt. Those serving as pallbearers were Jim Reiser, Eric Mahaney, Robert Lehmann, Gene Reiser, Phil Blum, Don Mages, Max Goder-Reiser and Benjamin Lehmann. Interment was at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery, Denison, Iowa, with the grandchildren singing "Our Father" and Father Paul J. Kelly playing a trumpet solo, "When The Saints Go Marching In. Following the interment the family invited everyone in attendance to join them at St. Rose of Lima Parish Center for fellowship and a luncheon prepared and served by St. Rose Ladies Guild. The Pfannebecker Funeral Home, Denison, Iowa, was in charge of arrangements where on Thursday, May 24, 2007, at 5:00 p.m., a Legion of Mary Rosary, led by Richard and Rosemarie Penn, was prayed with the grandchildren singing "Immaculate Mary" prior to the Rosary, and, a Parish Vigil Service, led by Father Paul J. Kelly was held at 8:00 p.m.
