Anna Jennette "Nettie" was the daughter of Smith and Mary (Babcock) Lane. She was born in De Soto, Wisconsin. Nettie studied and became a nurse. She was married in Ferryville, Wisconsin, February 18, 1887 to Dennis Kenefick. They lived in Lansing, Iowa until March of 1897 when they moved to 1668 Rhomberg Avenue, Dubuque, Iowa. Dennis passed away February 22, 1909 from pneumonia and bronchitis at the age of 53. Nettie was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the Christian Mother's Society, the Third Order of St. Francis, and Sylva Camp, Royal Neighbors.

On May 25, 1915 Nettie, at the age of 50, married Michael Thor, 76 years of age. (Michael's first wife, Maria, passed away April 29, 1914.) Michael and Nettie resided in Michael's home, 1230 Rhomberg Avenue, Dubuque, Iowa. Michael preceded her in death August 22, 1931.

Michael's son, Louis Thor, served in World War 1. In October of 1918, Louis passed away from the Spanish flu while in a United States Base Hospital while serving in France. With Louis' mother, Maria, being gone, in June of 1932, at the age of 65, Nettie as Louis' step-mother, was given the honor to travel to France to see Louis' monument on the Gold Star Mother Pilgrimage. Louis' father, Michael, had passed ten months prior to her making this trip.

Nettie had been ill for several months. She went to visit her nephew, Warren Hall, in Rochester, Minnesota. After three weeks being there, she passed away one day before her 69th birthday at his home. She was laid to rest with her first husband, Dennis, in Lansing. They do not have personal monuments. At the time of death, she was survived by her sister, Mrs. Lena Hall, and two brothers, Bert and Erwin.
