She was the youngest of nine children:

After graduating from high school Ouida worked as a proofreader at Dement Printing Company in Meridian. She met Robert Rogers of Royal Oak, MI when he was in the Army Air Corps, stationed at Key Field, Meridian. Three weeks later, January 11, 1942, they married and Bob was shipped out to the Pacific. Ouida enlisted in the U.S. Navy Waves in 1943 and served at the Pacific Fleet HQ until the end of the war.
Ouida and Bob settled in Royal Oak, MI where they raised two daughters and eventually had five grandchildren. Ouida was very active in her community and in her daughters' school activities. She later worked for many years at Oakview Cemetery in Royal Oak. Ouida was devoted to family and her greatest love was spending time with her children, grandchildren and family in Mississippi. After retirement Ouida and Bob moved to Northern Michigan and lived at Canada Creek Ranch. Ouida died in Atlanta, MI on October 27, 1992. She is buried at Oakview Cemetery, Royal Oak, MI.
