Flight Lieutenant Geoffrey Dunfee
Flight-Lieutenant Geoffrey Edgar Dunfee, 125 Squadron, RAF. Mosquito NFXVII pilot, mainly engaged on night operations. The Squadron was based at Hurn and Middle Wallop, and took part in the D-Day landings, in Normandy.
Geoffrey was one of four Dunfee brothers, including Brooklands drivers Clive and Jack. He was the son of Colonel Vickers Dunfee and Caroline Elizabeth. His service no. was 89379. Failing to return from a combat mission, he was presumed dead. It is believed that the plane crashed in the sea near Dover.
Clive Dunfee died in a racing incident and is buried here. Geoffrey is represented by a stone. He had raced an MG at Donington, before the war.
Jack Dunfee was a fairly well-known actor. Little is known about eldest brother, Vickers, other than that he was an army captain.
