Andreas and Eva Barbara emigrated to the United States in 1846, locating at Ann Arbor,Mich.,where Mr. Volz worked on a farm five years; he thence to Huron county, locating at Sebewaing, and purchased 160 acres of land, for which he paid $ 2.50 per acre, upon which he made his home. He increased his property by various purchases until he owned 500 acres. In 1878 he divided the land among his 10 children. Mr. Volz was one of the earliest settlers in Huron County, and one of the first in Sebewaing.
