Update note: John Eck born 1854 and died 30 April 1934 - information is found on page 131 as follows:
"John S. Eck was the son of Marcus Eck and Anna Maria Stahlnecker. He was born in Berks County on 6 July 1853 and died 30 April 1934 in Allentown, Lehigh Co.. He is buried at Most Blessed Sacrament Church." (Page 131)
On 24 Dec 1874 he married Mary A. Schwoyer/Swoyer/Zweyer. She was born in Bally in July 1850, the daughter of David Schwoyer/Swoyer/Zweyer and Elizabeth --------------. Mary died on 5 Sept 1919 at home, 125 Bryan St., Allentown and was buried at Most Blessed Sacrament Church. They had the following children:
1. Anna Elizabeth (Eck) b. 7 July 1875
2. Clarissa (Clara S.) (Eck) b. 30 Mar 1877
3. Elizabeth Agnes (Eck) b. 29 Apr 1879 d. 5 Oct. 1882, bur. Most Blessed Sacrament Church.
4. David M. Eck b. 17 Sep 1881, never married; bur. Grandview Cemetery, Fullerton, Lehigh Co.,PA
5. Lillian (Eck) b. 19 Mar 1887
During the early years of their marriage, John S. and Mary moved several times and John had several different occupations. In 1880, they lived in Washington Twp., Berks Co. In the 1885 Allentown City Directory there is a John S. Eck and Adam Beers listed as "Eck and beers Market House" fish and oysters, and John S. owned a house in Salisburg (Salisbury). In 1892 he is listed as a laborer and owned a house in Wison Yeager's Division (now a part of south Allentown). Soon after that John S. Eck began working for Lehigh Valley Transit Company, becmae a track foreman and worked for that company about forty years.
