WOODSFIELD - Alice L. Buckalew, 77, of 212 Berkley Drive died at 1:10 p.m. Tuesday (March 18, 2003) at the home of her daughter in Woodsfield. She was born Aug. 25, 1925, in Miltonsburg, Ohio, to Fredrick and Margaret Bosald Kress. She was a retired industrial registered nurse for Ormet Corp. at Hannibal and was a member of St. Sylvester Catholic Church at Woodsfield.
She was also the first certified IV therapist registered nurse in the state of West Virginia.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph E. Buckalew; two daughters, Rebecca S. Baldwin and her husband, Raymond, of Woodsfield and Janet L. Egger and her husband, James, of Jakarta, Indonesia; two sons, Ralph E. Buckalew II and his wife, Jennifer, of Melbourne, Fla., and Timothy A. Buckalew and his wife, Margaret, of Woodsfield; one sister, Edith Reischman and her husband, Raymond, of Miltonsburg; one brother, George Kress and his wife, Martha, of Woodsfield; and 12 grandchildren, Anastasia Gates, Jennifer Briggs, Sean Scott, Benjamin Baldwin, Jason Baldwin, Nathan Baldwin, Kevin Scott, Fredrick Buckalew, Natascha Buckalew, Austin Buckalew, Ryan Egger and Kyle Egger.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Grace Ann Joyce; her parents; two sisters, Florence Schumacher and Marie Cornet; and three brothers, Oscar Kress, Karl Kress and Gilbert Kress.
Funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Sylvester Catholic Church in Woodsfield with Father David Gaydosik as celebrant. Burial is in St. Sylvester Catholic Cemetery in Woodsfield. Friends will be received from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday at Watters Funeral Home in Woodsfield. Vigil services are at 8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
