Lena Neese , 84, of South Bend, passed away at 7:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2006, in Our Lady of Peace Hospital, South Bend.
She was born September 21, 1921, in Greenup, Illinois, to Harry DeWitt and Alice Tressie (Cougill) McMechan, and came to South Bend in the 1950s.
On February 1, 1941, in Missouri, she married Victor R. Neese , who passed away February 24, 1968. Two brothers, Bobbie Gene and Harold Dean McMechan, also preceded her in death.
She is survived by four daughters, Gwenavere (Ralph) Cummins, Linda Schoen, Marilyn (Nate) Sappington and Darlene Evans, all of South Bend; five sons, Victor (Judy) Neese of Osceola, Gary (Brenda) McMechan of Casey, IL, Clarence Neese , Ricky (Becky) Neese and Kevin (Lisa) Neese , all of South Bend. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Dickman of Decatur, Ill.; and two brothers, Ken McMechan and Don McMechan, both of Greenup, IL.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, March 12, in Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan Street, South Bend. Rev. Greg D. Crump, pastor of South Side Church of God, will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, and one hour prior to services Sunday in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel.
