Funeral services were held on Monday, December 15, 2008 at St. John Lutheran Church in Wadena for Tammy Jo Iken, 45, with Reverend William Stockman officiating. She lost her courageous four year battle to colon cancer on Wednesday, December 10, at Merit Care Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota.
Tammy was born to James and Betty Crabb on August 14, 1963 at Wesley Hospital in Wadena. She graduated in 1981 from Bertha-Hewitt High School where she was involved in girls high school volleyball and cheerleading and was honored as a Snow Queen.
She continued her education at Wadena Technical School and will be remembered as a dedicated and cheerful employee for the First National Bank of Henning, Harry Taves Office, Mid-Central Federal Savings Bank and as a data entry clerk at Russ Davis Wholesale.
She was united in marriage with Robert D. Iken II on February 15, 1986 at St. John Lutheran Church in Wadena. She was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church and was often involved in the Sunday School program.
Tammy enjoyed watching softball, volleyball, baseball and was actively involved in the Wadena Hockey Association. Her free-time included flower gardening and interior decorating. Her love in life were her children and their activities, especially hockey.
Tammy is survived by her devoted and loving husband, Bob; her children, James ìJimmyî Iken, Jessica Iken and Nicole Iken, all of Wadena; her parents, Jim and Betty Crabb of Hewitt; sisters, Jeannie (Doug) Stromberg of Wadena, and Debra (Randy) Riemer of Henning; mother-in-law, Bea Iken of Wadena; sisters-in-law, Suzanne (Mark) Uselman of Fargo, North Dakota, Brenda (Tom) Young and Jennifer (Rich) Rentz, both of Alexandria; and many nieces and nephews.
Tammy will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Pallbearers were Connie Hall, Steve Brown, Steve Babcock, Brent Lawson, Tommy Harthan and Scott Gustafson.
Interment was in the Wadena Cemetery.
