Joseph Stevens

Services for Joseph Stevens, 79, of Fordyce were held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Constance. Rev. Donald Stortz officiated and burial was in the parish cemetery under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home.

He was born August 6, 1896, at Fordyce to Stephen and Agnes (Willenbring) Stevens and died Sunday, October 19 in the Osmond Community Hospital. He married Josephine Hochstein May 2, 1922, at Constance.

He was a farmer and lifelong resident of the Fordyce area. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Holy Name Society.

Survivors include one daugthter, Mrs. Harold (Eva) Buschkamp of Crofton; one son, Daniel of Fordyce; a brother, Ben of Hartington; two sisters, Bertha of Hartington and Mrs. Lawrence (Cecelia) Hochstein of Randolph; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife on May 23, 1968.

Pallbearers were James, Keith and Mark Buschkamp, William, Michael and John Stevens.
