Son of Edward & Magdalena (Heibel) Muhle.
He was baptized on February 19, 1928, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Columbus by Rev. H. Miessler. Duayne attended District #46 Grade School in Colfax County and Christ Lutheran Grade School. He was confirmed on May 10, 1942 by Pastor Martin Borneman at Christ Lutheran Church. Duayne attended Wilson High School (Colfax County) and Kramer High School in Columbus. Duayne entered the United States Army Air Corp on April 30, 1946 and was stationed in Germany for six months during the Berlin Airlift. He was honorably discharged on March 11, 1949 with the rank of corporal.

Duayne was united in marriage to Alice Briza on September 22, 1949, at the Methodist Church in Schuyler, Nebraska by Pastor A. W. Clark. They lived their entire life in the Columbus Area. Duayne was employed at Behlen Manufacturing for 42 years as a diesel mechanic and he also farmed. He was an avid airplane enthusiast and enjoyed riding his motorcycle. At the age of 16, he received his first pilot's license and later bought and flew his own planes. In his 60's, he built his own aircraft and flew it. He enjoyed taking his dog for walks and rides in his pick-up. Duayne enjoyed farming and watching things grow, driving in the country with his wife Alice, and viewing the country-side. He was a life time member of Christ Lutheran Church where he served on the finance committee, was a greeter, and an usher. He enjoyed Polka music and was a member of the American Legion. Duayne was a faithful husband, father, grandfather, and member of the community.
