IDA L. ARENS

Ida L. Arens, 99, died April 22 at Park View Haven Nursing Home, Coleridge.

Services were Tuesday, April 24, at 1 p.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Bow Valley. The Rev. Norman Parr officiated at the services with burial in the parish cemetery. Rosaries were recited at 7:30 and 8 p.m. at the church, Monday, April 23.

Pallbearers were Melvin Lammers, Merlin Lammers, James Arens, Ronald Kramer, Gary Kramer and Kenneth Pick.

Mrs. Arens was born June 12, 1884, in Fordyce, the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Becker) Schulte. She married Edward J. Arens on June 9, 1907 in Bow Valley. He died April 6, 1956.

Mrs. Arens was a housewife in the Fordyce and Hartington areas all her life.

She was a member of Christian Mothers and Sts. Peters and Paul Rosary Club.

She is survived by eight daughters, Mrs. Pauline Lammars, Mrs. Hildegard Lammers, both of Hartington, Mrs. Alfred (Sylvia) Hochstein of Crofton, Mrs. Edwin (Loretta) Pick of Hartington, Mrs. Roman (Rosella) Kramer, Mrs. Martin (Mildred) Kramer, both of Crofton, Mrs. Richard (Isabelle) Kramer of Hartington and Mrs. Norman (Marie) Kube of Crofton; three sons, Rudolph of Fordyce, Clarence of Crofton and Roman of Hartington; three half sisters, Mrs. Bill (Erna) Hoeschen of Newberry, Ore., Mrs. Cordula Curius of Sunny Mead, Calif., and Mrs. Mathilda Pokorny of Neceda, Wis.; 65 grandchildren and 142 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; one infant daughter; three grandchildren; three sisters; two brothers; seven half sisters and three half brothers.

Edward and Ida (Shulte) Arens

Edward Arens, son of J. F. (Frank) and Theresa (Klunker) Arens, married Ida Sculte, daughter of John and Theresa Schulte. They were the parents of eleven children: Pauline (Alfred) Lammers, Hildegard (Hugo) Lammers, Sylvia (Alfred) Hochstein, Loretta (Edwin) Pick, Rudolph (Ella Kruse), Clarence (Laura Reifenrath), Rosella (Roman) Kramer, Mildred (Martin) Kramer, Isabelle (Richard) Kramer, Roman (Arlene Albrecht), and Marie (Norman) Kube.

Edward died April 9, 1956, and Ida, April 22, 1984. They are buried in the Bow Valley cemetery.
