Valentine W. Wilhelm

HOLTON - Valentine W. Wilhelm, 85, of Holton, died Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at Holton.
He was born February 14, 1924 at Centralia, the son of Frank and Amelia Heinen Wilhelm.
Valentine was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church in Holton.
He was a machine operator for Hall Brothers in Marysville and Hankhammer Construction and Quality Excavating in Topeka. He later was a road supervisor for the Jackson County Road and Bridge Department, until his retirement in 1988.
He married Arcena Sanders on April 23, 1946 at Baileyville. They were divorced. He married Mary Johnson on December 13, 1975 at Soldier. She died February 23, 1988.
Valentine was also preceded in death by a son, Valentine Leo Wilhelm, and one brother, Irvin Wilhelm.
Survivors include four sons, Gerald Wilhelm, Falls City, Nebraska; Virgil (Anna) Wilhelm, Holton; Roger (Darnell) Wilhelm, Fairview; and William (Charlene) Wilhelm, Sabetha; a step-son, Leroy Johnson, two daughters, Karen (David) Stolzenberger, Morrill; and Angela Ash, Holton; three brothers, Marvin Wilhelm, Shawnee Mission, Francis Wilhelm, Claremore, Oklahoma, and Joseph Wilhelm, Green Valley, Arizona; two sisters, Geraldine Schmelzle, Effingham, and Ethel Baumgartner, Sabetha; ten grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 23rd at St. Dominic Catholic Church. Cremation will follow the Mass. Inurnment will be later in St. Bede Cemetery at Kelly. Valentine will lie in state at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Holton where a rosary will be said at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, followed by visitation. Memorials are suggested to St. Bede Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund, or a charity of the donor's choice, and may be sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 1034, Holton, 66436.
