Ivo C. Brackman, 84, Fort Recovery, died at 11:58 p.m. May 3, 2011, at his residence.

He was born June 27, 1926, in St. Joseph, to Joseph and Rose Bruns Brackman. On April 22, 1950, he married Norma Mescher Brackman, who survives.

Also surviving are six daughters, Mary Ann (Urban) Kaup, Coldwater, Irene (Ralph) Evers, Coldwater, Eileen (Alvin) Homan, Minster, Ruth (Tom) Hays, Rockford, Dorothy (Ted) Stammen, St. Henry, and Theresa (Dave) Schroer, Fort Recovery; a son, Jerry (Pam) Brackman, Fort Recovery; 25 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.

Deceased are three brothers, Ray, Zeno and Herb Brackman; a sister, Marie Buddendeck; four sisters-in-law, Anna Brackman, Julie Brackman, Dolores Brackman and Rita Buddendeck; a brother-in-law, Aloys Buddendeck; and a granddaughter.

A retired farmer, he also was retired from Avco New Idea, Coldwater.He was a member of Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Fort Recovery, American Legion Post 345, Fort Recovery, and Catholic Knights of St. Joseph.

He served with the Army in the U.S. and the Philippines during World War II.

Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Thomas Dorn officiating. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Fort Recovery, where military honors will be conducted by the American Legion.
