Miriam was the second child born to John and Jessie. She spent her entire youth in Watertown, SD where she had an avid interest in sports, participating in basketball and swimming in high school. After graduation, she met Win and after dating several years, they were married June 14, 1933 at St. Martin's Lutheran Church in Watertown. Mim and Win had 5 children, Kay Ellen, Ronald, Joyce, Janet and John. Besides Watertown, she lived in Brainerd, Claremont, Brownton, New Brighton, Circle Pines, and Mora. Her hobby was drawing and she left many pen and ink prints as her legacy. She also loved to write and wrote Christmas letters from 1957 until she died. In 1989, Mim wrote her memoirs which were published after her death, per her request. Win died in 1966, and in 1969, she married Lester Steenberg. Les died in 1983, and Mim moved to the Palmer Drive Apartments in New Brighton, where she resided until her death. Miriam was a member of the Children of the American Revolution.
