Mrs. Rhoda Metz Rhodes of 2541 East Third street, Tucson, Ariz. died.Wednesday evening February 3, 1971 in the Tucson Medical Center where she had been a patient for the past week. She had been ill for only a week.
A Big Valley native she was born in Brady Township, Huntingdon County, a daughter of Porter W. and Claudia Rudy Metz. She was united in marriage to Dr. James Melvin Rhodes in November 1948, the ceremony being performed at Huntingdon.
Her husband survives as do the following sisters: Mrs. Robert H. Henderson, Huntingdon; Mrs. John R. Cranor, Walla Walla, Wash.; Mrs. A. Roland Thompson and Mrs. Robert K. Rumbaugh, both of Belleville and Mrs. Robert W. Kitting of Atlanta, Ga. One sister preceded her in death.
The deceased was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Tucson, Ariz. She had resided in Tucson since 1951 having been a resident of Huntingdon area prior to that time. She was associated with the First National Bank of Huntingdon and for ten years had served as acting treasurer of Juniata College. In Tucson she was acting secretary to the director of the Arizona Pioneer Historical Association.
Memorial services will be held Sunday, February 7 at 2 pm from the Brown funeral home, Huntingdon. The Rev. John P. Martin of the United Presbyterian Homes and Dr. S. Earl Dubbel professor emeritus of Juniata College will officiate. Private interment services will be held in the Allensville Presbyterian Cemetery. It was the request of the family that flowers be omitted and that those wishing to make memorial contributions should send their gifts to Juniata College.
