Rites Wed. for Mrs. Janssen

Funeral services for Mrs. Carl Janssen, 83, were held in the Dell Rapids reformed Church Wednesday. Mrs. Janssen died in Terrace Manor Nursing Home (Dell Rapids, SD) Sunday following a long illness. The Rev. Don Plantinga officiated at the service. Mrs. Warren Swanson, organist, accompanied soloist Warren Swanson. Interment took place in the Reformed Church cemetery east of Dell Rapids with Hermanson-Kahler Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Pallbearers included Robert Janssen, Melvin Scherff, Curtis Nelson, Larry Schoolmeester, Jerome Haak and Roger Muller.

Ida Poel was born December 14, 1892 [maybe Dec 15, 1892], in Holland. She came to the United States with her parents in 1903 [should be 1904]. They settled in German Valley, Illinois and in 1909 moved to a farm near Trent, SD. She was married to Carl Janssen in Trent on June 2, 1915. They farmed near Dell Rapids until 1920, moving at that time to a farm near Trent. They retired in 1940 and moved into Dell Rapids. She and her husband became residents of Terrace Manor Nursing Home last Thursday.

She is survived by her widower, son Hauko, Trent; daughter Mrs. Melvin Muller (Grace), Dell Rapids; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. An infant daughter and four brothers preceded her in death.
