Rita Marie Lato, of Nixa, Mo., formally Chippewa, Wisc., passed away on her 67th birthday, February 10, 2008. She was born February 10, 1941 in Osseo, Minn., the daughter of William and Lorena (Helte) Groenke. She was united in marriage to Leo Lato on December 27, 1965. Mrs. Lato had a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, during her working career she was an elementary school teacher and also a certified nurse assistant. She retired from Eagleton Home Care Center. She was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Springfield, Mo. Survivors include her husband, Leo; a daughter, Sue Hillsdale and husband, Erick, Sunnyvale, Calif.; a son, John Lato and wife, Katie, Austin, Texas; two brothers, Joel Groenke and Marc Groenke; and a sister, Eunice Lunde. Cremation was under direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 18, in Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.
