Claude Cyrus Barger was born on July 2, 1916 in Rural Orrick, MO, the son of Chris Cyrus and Fannie (Griffey) Barger. Claude passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2006, at the Excelsior Springs Medical Center and Convalescent Center, Excelsior Springs, MO. Claude was 89 years old. He had moved to Hamilton, MO in 1966 and then to Excelsior Springs, MO in 1979. Claude had been employed at Lake City Ammunition Plant and at List and Clark and was a lifelong farmer. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather.

On Nov. 25, 1937, Claude was married to Alma Dean Blain of rural Orrick, MO. Dean passed away on March 26, 2001. Claude is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, James Cyrus and Lella Barger of Orrick, MO and his daughter, Mary Sue Berry of Excelsior Springs, MO. He is also survived by his sister, Mildred Sullenger. Claude is survived by a granddaughter, Joni Gay Loxterman, Rogers, AR, a great-granddaughter, Catrina D. Loxterman, Liberty, MO, three step-grandchildren, Guy Alan Turner, Missouri City, MO, Richard Dean Turner, Orrick, MO, and Terri June Turner, Polo, MO, and six step-great-grandchildren, Karen Lynn Turner, Julie Kay Turner, Charles Brian Turner, Kendall Dean Turner, Trevor Alan Turner and Lacie Kay Turner and five step-great-great-grandchildren, Trey K. Stapleton, Hannah R. Stapleton, Carlie N. Turner, Kyle J. Turner and Kiana M. Turner. Claude was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one grandson, Chris Edward Berry.

It was the family's desire that funeral services for Claude be held on Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. at Gowing Chapel with The Rev. Clay Kahler, officiating. Musical selections provided by Mrs. Trudy Gaines, pianist and Mrs. Sherri Allen, soloist.
