Lena's death certificate lists her birth as 29 Jul 1871 which cannot be right. She was 2-3 years younger than her sister Margaret Haberberger (22 Aug 1871-23 Jul 1910) in the 1880-1900 census records. She was probably born 29 Jul 1874. On 2 May 1901, the Hillsboro Democrat reported Lena Haberberger and Joseph J. Roesch applied for a marriage license. Joseph Roesch (12 Dec 1873-1 Jan 1954) was a building construction laborer. I can only assume they got divorced or annulled the marriage. In the 1910 St. Louis census, Joseph Roesch was married to the former Emma Dohack and had a seven-year-old son. Lena was 37+ when she married widower Gerhard Poepper with his six children sometime after the 1910 census. Gerhard is buried with his first wife Caroline Spitz-Poepper.
