Mr. Phillip D. Hout Sr., 70, of Newport, died Tuesday at Little Rock.
He was born Nov. 29, 1938, at Paragould, the son of Judson Nathan Jr., and Dorothy (Williams) Hout.
Mr. Hout enjoyed any activity which posed a challenge. He enjoyed duck hunting, fly fishing, scuba diving, sailing, piloting his plane, cycling, playing guitar, writing music and telling stories.
His greatest love, however, was spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Ann (Hudson) Hout of Newport; one son, Phillip David Hout Jr. and wife Desha Biles Hout of Dallas; two daughters, Kimberly Hout Ellis and husband Charles of Little Rock, Pamela Hout Wallace and husband David of Cabot; one brother, Dr. Judson N. Hout, III and wife Carolyn of Camden; seven grandchildren, Stacy Allen and husband David, Judson Shumate, Lindsay Hoggatt, Jennifer Wallace, Candace Wallace, Phillip David Hout III and William Jacob Hout; and one great-grandchild, Gavin Shumate.
Funeral services were held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
Internment was in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Arrangements were by Jackson's Newport Funeral Home.
