Julia B. Behring, age 92, formerly of 218 E. Park Lane, Kohler, died on Tues., Oct. 16, 2001 at the Beach Health Care Center of the Sheboygan Retirement Home.
Julia was born Dec. 14, 1908 in Cleveland, a daughter of the late Henry and Mary (Schmidt) Wagner. She attended St. Wendell Catholic School.
On Aug. 1, 1933 (sic, 1934) she was united in marriage to Alfred D. Behring at St. Wendell Catholic Church. They moved to Kohler in 1936. He preceded her in death on Feb. 1, 1975.
Julia loved prayer and was a devout woman who touched many lives. She especially enjoyed all those who visited with her at the nursing home, she loved their company. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, baking, canning and playing Bridge. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy.
Julia was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Kohler where she was a co-founder of the Mission Society. She was also a member of the Catholic Womens Charity Club, the St. Anne Christian Women Society, a 75-year member of the Catholic Knights and the St. Lawrence Guild. She was an active member of the Kohler Womens Club from which she received a service award and she was a very active volunteer with St. Nicholas Hospital Auxiliary.
Julia is survived by a daughter, Sheboygan; two sons, Jim (Patricia) Behring of Winterhaven, Fla., and William (Sharon) Behring of Oshkosh; 14 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren; a brother, Lawrence (Josephine) Wagner, Sheboygan, and a brother-in-law, Walter Meyer, Kiel.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Al (Rose) Wagner, Harry (Betty) Wagner and Rev. Alphonse Wagner; three sisters, Margaret (Henry) Meyer, Emma (Alfred) Herr and Loretta Meyer and two infant brothers.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 7 p.m., Fri., Oct. 19 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Kohler with Rev. Thomas Lijewski, pastor and Rev. Louis Wilimek as co-celebrants. Burial will take place in the Woodland Cemetery, Kohler. Friends may call at the church, 600 Green Tree Rd., Kohler on Fri. from 4 p.m. until the time of Mass.
