Dorothy L. Nicklas, 73, of 5 Elm Blvd., N. Warren, died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008 at Sisters Charity Hospital, Buffalo, N.Y.
Dorothy was born June 14, 1935, in Ridstone Twp., Fayette County, Pa., the daughter of the late Jacob and Violet (Glapensky) Wayda.
She was a 1953 graduate of Youngsville High School and was employed in the purchasing department at Betts Industries for many years, retiring in 2005. Dorothy was involved with her grandchildren in the 4H Rodeo and Lowes Saturday family projects program. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her beloved pets Honey and Lady. In her earlier years, she was active with the religious education at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
She is survived by four sons: Jamie Nicklas and his wife, Susan, Warren, Kevin Nicklas and his wife, Jennifer, Sugar Grove, Keith Nicklas and his wife, Kelly, Kane, and John Nicklas, Warren; a half-brother, Jacob Wayda and his wife, Valerie, Arkansas; a half-sister, Shirley Ransom and her husband, Doug, Pittsfield; four grandchildren: Amanda Saeli, Brittany Henry, Jamie Nicklas and Andrew Nicklas; a great-granddaughter, Kayla Saeli; and several nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Nicklas in November 1992; and infant sister; and by Charlie and Katie Tackats, whom she raised.
