Son of John Webber Carter and Anna Wiggans Carter

Claude Carter, 89, rural Chanute retired farmer, died Saturday, May 16, 1992, at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center.
The son of John W. and Anna Wiggans Carter, he was born Jan. 1, 1903, in Pleasant Valley Township of Wilson county. He married Mabel L. Wiles Sept 19, 1923, at Fredonia.
He was a member of the Christian Church and Cedar Creek watershed board.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons, Phillip Dean Carter and Gale D. Carter, both of Chanute; two daughters, Glenna Erbe, Altoona, and Margie Carter, of the home; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral is 10 a.m. Wednesday at Timmons funeral Home, Fredonia. Burial will be in Altoona City Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorials may be made in his name to the Arthritis foundation.
