She was born June 12, 1921, in Cascade, daughter of Bernard and Agnes Ressler Otting. She married Irwin Frost, DDS, on May 9, 1944 in Cascade. He died February 17, 2005.
Rita was a graduate of St. Mary's High School, Cascade. She lived in California while her husband was in the Army during WWII, and later moved to Waterloo. Survivors include: seven daughters, Julie (Clayton) Thomas of Waterloo, Mary Ann (Jay) Paulukonis of Dalton, Pa., Carolyn (David) Thogerson of Ames, Sue (Louis) Fettkether of Waterloo, Nancy (Don) Bellmont of St. Cloud, Minn., Beth Markowitz of Overland Park, Kan., and Lori (Sanjay) Shah of Cedar Rapids; six sons, Edward (Francoise) of Bent Mountain, Va., Michael (Molly) of Westfield, Mass., Mark of Broken Arrow, Okla., Robert (Jane) of Waterloo, Paul (Jana) of Beatrice, N.E and Ted (Joan) of Austin, TX; 32 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: a son, David; a grandson, Jeffrey Frost; five sisters, Kathryn "Katie" Wernimont, Amelia Otting, Martha Otting, Alvina (Kurt) Greenwood; Marguerite "Mody" Wernimont; six brothers, Frank Otting, Joseph Otting, Edward "Motor" Otting, Sylvester "Boody" Otting, Herbert "Chub" Otting and Ralph Otting.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 22, at St. Edward Catholic Church with entombment in Mt. Olivet Mausoleum. Public visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation also for an hour before services at the church on Monday.
Memorials may be directed to Alzheimer's Association, Columbus High School or St. Edward Catholic Church.
