PHILIPPINE-AMERICAN WAR
The 3rd US Infantry regiment participated in what is considered to be the "final" Indian uprising in Oct 1898 - the battle of Sugar Point, MN. Then, the regiment was shipped out to the Philippines. He was likely transferred to the 12th Field Artillery while in the Philippines. He was discharged while onboard the USAT Grant on 1 Sep 1901, as it returned to the states.
(The headstone is incorrect. He did not participate in the Spanish-American War)
