OTTO WIEGELE

Funeral services for Otto E. Wiegele, 81, of Thompson falls will be held today (Thursday) at 2 p.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church with Pastor David Olson officiating. Military and Oddfellows graveside rites will follow at Whitepine Cemetery. Mr. Wiegele died of natural causes Sunday, Aug 13, at Clark Fork Valley Hospital in Plains, MT. He was born Dec. 30, 1907 at Nelson, WI to Louis and Emma Wiegele. In 1934, he moved to Montana, where he spent the years prior to World War II logging, mining and working for the Northern Pacific Railroad. In March 1942, he enlisted in the US Army and served with Battery C of 204th Coast Artillery. After receiving an honorable discharge, he returned to Wisconsin for a short time but soon returned to Montana bringing along his new bride, the former Lydia Gibson of Alma. They were married in April 1945. Otto used to say he missed the mountains too much and had to show them to his new wife. They lived in Thompson Falls for the last 54 years. Mr. Wiegele worked for Flodin Lumber Co. for over 20 years, retiring in 1969. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and working with honeybees. Survivors include his wife, Thompson Falls; a daughter, Beverly Zazueta, Hillsboro, OR; a son, Delance, Anchorage, Alaska; a sister, Lavina Myers, Anoka, MN; seven grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Three brothers and four sisters preceded him in death. Coffelt Bunch Funeral Service of Thompson falls is in charge of the arrangements.
