LINDSAY — Alvin F. Schumacher, 83, of Lindsay, died Saturday, June 27, 2009, at Countryside Home in Madison.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Lindsay. Concelebrants Father James F. Novotny, Pastor, and Father Tom Bauwens will officiate. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery in Lindsay.

Visitation will be Tuesday 4-8:30 p.m. and Wednesday 9-10:30 a.m., with rosary and scripture service on Tuesday at 7:30, all at Holy Family Church in Lindsay.
Alvin was born Feb. 11, 1926, in Cornlea to Matthew J. and Nellie C. (Bender) Schumacher. He attended Sacred Heart School in Cornlea. He married Mary T. Noonan on Feb. 25, 1952 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cornlea. He farmed with his wife near Cornlea moving to Lindsay in 1987. Alvin was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Lindsay Council #7699. He served on the Board of Director’s of the Humphrey Farmers Coop and served on the Board of Director’s of the Platte County ASCS and coached Little League baseball at Cornlea. He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Lindsay and enjoyed fishing, golf, reading and woodworking.

Survivors include his wife, Mary, of Lindsay; children, Joel (Jan) Schumacher of Humphrey; Gary (Carla) Schumacher of Humphrey; Neil (Mishelle) Schumacher of Lindsay; Russ (Tina) Schumacher of Lindsay; Kevin (Julie) Schumacher of Omaha; Lynn (Kurt) Ruhnke of Lindsay; Amy (Scott) Schaecher of Columbus and Ann (Tm) Olmer of Humphrey; 25 grandchildren; brother, Dale (Nell) Schumacher of Humphrey; sisters, Mildred Gronenthal of Newman Grove; Arlene Schumacher and Marlyn Schumacher, both of Columbus and Joan Noonan of Cornlea; sister-in-laws, Alice Schumacher of Columbus, Ruth Schumacher of Lindsay, Rita Schumacher of Columbus and Elvina Schumacher of Omaha.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Glenn; brothers, Sylvester, Harold, Gerald and Maynard.
