Orville Scott Fritz Rucker
Mathews, Va. -- Orville Scott Fritz Rucker, 76, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008.
He graduated from Roseville High School and served four years in the U. S. Navy in San Diego, Calif. as a medic. As a young man, he worked in advertising and editing with newspapers in Muskingum, Gallia and Tuscarawas counties. He worked in the death care industry with Bolin Funeral Home. He worked with his dad at Blue Rock Coal Mining Co., which spurred his interest in coal mining where he spent the remainder of his working career. He retired from Southern Illinois Power Co-Op in Marion, Ill. He was involved in many civic activities and with his church as a young man.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Rucker, of Mathews, Va.; daughters, Julia Ann Anderson and husband, Randy, of Evansville, Ind., and Vickie Lynn Jasper of Mount Vernon, Ind., Jill Demarco of West Point, Va., and Samantha Palino of Gloucester, Va.; sons, Donald Rucker of Massillon, Martin T. Rucker of Canton, Jason S. Rucker of Mathews, Va., Scott A. Rucker of Fredericksburg, Va. and Travis S. Rucker of Mathews, Va.; a sister, Robin Rucker Livesay and husband, Fred, of Indianapolis, Ind.; brothers, Albert "Ace" Rucker and wife, Joan, of Zanesville, Lloyd James Rucker and wife, Charlotte, of Roseville and Franklin David Rucker and wife, Ann, of Coshocton; a sister-in-law, Cheryl Rucker of Newark; grandchildren, Aaron Jasper of Evansville, Ind., Andrew Jasper of Bloomington, Ind., Zachary and Jacob Anderson of Evansville, Ind., Zackary Rucker of Canton, Haley Rucker of Canton, Andrew Rucker of Massillon, Timothy Demarco of West Point, Va., Jay Demarco of West Point, Va. and Torrance Palino of Gloucester, Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews scattered throughout the nation.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Pearl Rucker; and brothers, Clarence "Bud" Rucker and Robert "Bob" Rucker.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008, in the Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home Chapel in Mathews, Va. The family will receive friends following the services.
