Robert was the son of Harry Jerome BIGALKE and Blanche KOLANOWSKI. He married Lois Ruth VALLEE on 11 February 1956, at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, in Manistee, Michigan.

They were the parents of six (6) children:

Brian BIGALKE
David BIGALKE
Harry BIGALKE
Joseph BIGALKE
Steven BIGALKE
Laurie BIGALKE BLEVINS

He was a graduate of Saint Joseph High School class of 1948. He served in the U.S. Army after he graduated from High School.

Bob was employed for over 38 years at Packaging Corporation of America, in Filer City, until his retirement. He worked in progressively more responsible positions in the manufacturing area, reaching the level of superintendent. His knowledge and fairness earned him the respect and trust of workers and management alike. Bob was just an "all around good guy."

He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. One of his favorite hobbies was being in his yard, tending to his vegetable, flower and fruit gardens.

He was a communicant of Guardian Angels Catholic Church. Since his retirement, Bob attended daily mass, where he would lead the Rosary each day before the mass would begin. His legacy will be his faith and example he left to his family and friends.

Mass and burial were held on 12 March 2009.
