FARIBAULT, Minn. - James Richard Hill, 60, of Faribault died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002, at his home. A memorial service will be held Monday, Oct. 14, 2002, at 1 p.m. at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston, Minn., with the Rev. Lane Zaffke officiating. Interment will be at Swede Bottom Cemetery, Houston, Minn. Veteran's military rites will be conducted by Arnet-Sheldon American Legion Post No. 423 of Houston.
Visitation will be at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault, on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002, from 2 to 4 p.m. and also at the church Monday for one hour prior to the service.
James R., the son of Richard and Ruby (Egland) Hill, was born April 11, 1942, in La Crosse, Wis. Following graduation from Houston High School, he served in the U.S. Army. He worked 30 years for UPS on the LeCenter route. On July 26, 1996, he married Janet Ziemke in Las Vegas. He was an awesome dad, grandpa, golfer; a good athlete; and he loved the outdoors. He also was a member of the American Legion Post No. 423 of Houston; VFW Post No. 1562 of Faribault; Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie No. 1460, Faribault; and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge No. 2098, Faribault.
He is survived by his wife, Janet, of Faribault; three children, Richard Hill of Faribault, Minn., Tom (Connie) Hill of Houston, and Cheryl (Jerame) Rasmussen of Rushford, Minn.; six grandchildren, Jimmy, Kalene, Samantha, Zachery, Jason, and Gretchen; a brother, Jon (Lorraine) Hill of Houston; a sister, Holly Fitting of La Crosse; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives ;and his two dogs, Amos and Annie.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
