John H. Albers
John H. Albers, 89, of Waterloo, died at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics on Sunday, July 12, 2009 from complications of a fall.
John Hartwig Albers was born March 3, 1920 in Mt. Auburn, Iowa, son of John and Susan Elliott Albers.
He married Mary Paulsen on October 29, 1949 in Crown Point, Indiana; she died April 30, 2002.
John graduated from Mt. Auburn High School in 1937; he attended Gate Business College, University of Northern Iowa, and then graduated from the University of Iowa with a BA degree in business in 1951.
He worked at Rath Packing Co. for 31 years and was the manager of data processing when he retired in 1982.
John served in the U.S. Army in the European Theater during WWII.
He was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. Waterloo American Legion Post #138, and Waterloo BPO Elks #290.
John is survived by his daughter Kathhryn (Harry) Hight, Burnsville, MN; daughter Susan (Steve) Bellmer, Waterloo; daughter Jamie (Tim) Harter, Olathe, KS; five grandchildren: Adam, Cooper, and Maclaine Harter and Harry Hight III and Jacki Hight.
He is also survived by his brother Ralph Albers, Mt Auburn, and sister Doris Evans, Vinton, IA.
Burial in Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post 138 and VFW Post 1623
