LAWRENCEBURG - Charles O. Bertram, 103, died Aug 28, 2009. He was husband of the late Jessie Shearer Bertram. Mr. Bertram was a native of Wayne County, graduate of Berea College and received a Masters Degree in Agriculture from the University of Kentucky. In 1934 he started Windy High School. He taught for a total of 38 years in Wayne and Anderson County schools. He was a former President of Central Kentucky VoAg, Wayne and Anderson County Teachers and Retired Teachers Associations. During the years of 1967-75 he worked for the KY Dept. of Agriculture as a supervisor of shows and local fairs in Kentucky. He was a member and former adult men's Sunday School Class teacher at Lawrenceburg First Baptist Church and former member and Sunday School Superintendent of Gap Creek Baptist Church and Monticello First Baptist Church. He is survived by a daughter, Ruth B. Herndon of Lexington, a daughter-in-law, Tibby Beck of Lexington, 5 grandchildren, Randy (Louann) Bertram of North Carolina, Wanda Bertram of Lexington, Wendell Ray (Theresa) Bertram of Arkansas, Teri (Jd) Landry and Jana (Mark) Callahan of Lexington, 9 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a son, Charles Lee Bertram, a son-in-law Ralph Herndon, and 6 siblings. Service will be 12pm Mon and visitation 5-8pm Sun at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Elk Spring Valley Cemetery [error] in Monticello, KY. Charles O. Bertram, 103, died Friday, August 28, 2009 at Hospice Care Center in Lexington. He was the husband of the late Jessie Evelyn Shearer Bertram. He was born August 15, 1906 in Windy, KY (Wayne County) to the late Floyd and Mattie Burris Bertram.

Mr. Bertram began his education in Wayne County, went to high school at Berea Normal and was a graduate of Berea College. He received a Masters Degree in Agriculture from the University of Kentucky.
