Michael F. Maleck, 93, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2008 at his home in Beaver Dam.
Visitation will be at the Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam on Wednesday, Jan. 30, from 5 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Katharine Drexel Church, 511 S. Spring St., on Thursday, Jan. 31, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Fr. John Schreiter will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery in the town of Beaver Dam, Dodge County.
Michael Frank Maleck was born on Oct. 3, 1914 in Beaver Dam, to Frank and Dora (Schoenberger) Maleck. On June 12, 1937, he was united in marriage with Charlotte "Doll" Mallon in Beaver Dam. Mike worked at Monarch Range in Beaver Dam for 43 years and he also worked as a part-time painter throughout his life. He was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish. Mike enjoyed life's simple pleasures like watching the train go by, or taking a "tour" of Beaver Dam and keeping current on who was building what, or going bullhead fishing in Beaver Dam Lake, or watching the birds, or going to the Brewers game with his sons, Toad and Bill. He was also a wonderful grandpa and will be remembered for taking the grandkids to Taco Bell - his favorite place to eat. Mike never had a bad word to say about anyone, he had a sharp mind and a keen memory and he had beautiful blue eyes and smile.
Survivors include seven children, John (Janet) Maleck, Belvidere, Ill., David "Toad" (Karen) Maleck, Beaver Dam, Garry "Bill" (Jane) Maleck, Beaver Dam, Carol Braker, Harrisville, Michael L. (Nancy) Maleck, Beaver Dam, Patrick (Patricia) Maleck, Beaver Dam, and Charlynn "Susie" (Kenneth) Scott, Beaver Dam; 21 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; a special friend, Joan Volkmann, Beaver Dam; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
Michael was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Charlotte Maleck; a daughter, Margaret "Maggie" Maleck; four grandchildren, Jim Lund, Christopher Scott, Corey Maleck and Jaclynn Maleck; a son-in-law, Kenneth Braker, and his sister, Barbara Mallon.
