Claudia Deann "Dede" Brinker, 63, passed away Saturday, Aug. 28, 2004, at home following a lengthy illness.

A resident of Cecil County, Md., for 32 years, she was born in Greensburg, on Aug. 26, 1941, the daughter of the late Edward C. and Elizabeth McKee Brinker.

Ms. Brinker was a graduate of Greensburg High School, was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree from Northwestern University School of Education in 1963, studied library science at the University of Delaware, and received her Master of Science degree in Instructional Technology from Towson State University. She had been a third grade teacher for eight years at Avoca East Elementary School in Wilmette, Ill., and had been employed with First National Bank of North East for 21 years serving as receptionist, assistant cashier, assistant vice president, and a branch manager. Ms. Brinker was also an instructional assistant at Elkton High School, and most recently secretary/bookkeeper at North East High School, from where she retired in 2001.

Ms. Brinker was a member of First United Church of Christ, Greensburg, Northwestern University Alumni Association and Alpha Phi International Fraternity (Sorority). She enjoyed playing bridge, golfing, swimming, knitting, reading, gardening and doing yard work. She was an avid Big 10 football fan, especially the Northwestern Wildcats.

Survivors include her lifelong friend, Carol J. Scheff, of Elkton, Md.; and cousins, Claude McKee, of Greensburg, Jane Joyce, of Verona, and Ginnie Joyce Izett, of Monroeville.

Visitation will be held Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at COSHEY-NICHOLSON FUNERAL HOME, 319 W. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home Saturday at 10:30 a.m. with interment to follow in St. Clair Cemetery, Greensburg.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins, in care of Hicks Home for Funerals P.A., 103 W. Stockton St., Elkton, Md. 21921.
