CAMPBELL

The community was shocked and grieved at the unexpected death of Mr. James Campbell at about 2:15 o'clock Sunday morning at his home on North Main street. Mr. Campbell was well known to every one, and was universally popular as he was kind hearted, jovial and a man of many splendid traits of character. He and his wife conducted the Campbell boarding house, one of the most prominent businesses of the kind in Harrodsburg. Mr. Campbell was 51 years of age, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Campbell, and was born in this county. He was twice married, at the death of his first wife he was united to her sister, Miss Hallie Curd, who survives him, together with two children by the first union and three by the last, Mrs. J.A. Johnson, of Lexington, Miss Ruby Campbell, who is now in Tucson, Arizona, for her health, and Fred, Helen and James Campbell, who are at home.
Mr. Campbell also leaves five brothers and one sister, Messrs. Walter and Owen Campbell, of Harrodsburg; John Campbell, Lexington; Howard and Atwood Campbell, Danville, and Mrs. Bodine Yocum, of Burgin.
The funeral was held at Shawnee Run Baptist church Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. W.D. Moore, the pastor and Rev. C.W. Knight, of Harrodsburg Baptist church. A large gathering of friends were present to pay their last tribute to him.
