"Mrs. John C. Kirchner died at her home near Antioch, Clark County, Mo., Tuesady, February 3. 1914, at 10:45 a.m., aged 84 years, 2 months and 7 days.
Short services were conducted at the home Thursday morning, Feb. 5, at 10 o'clock and at Zion's church near Winchester, at 12 o'clock, by Rev. W. Bechtold, pastor, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Neumann cemetery.
Mrs. John C. Kirchner, nee Barbara Anna Kirchner, was born in Byron (sic), Germany, November 26, 1829, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Adam Kirchner. The Kirchners came to America in 1848, and settled in Lee county, Iowa, near Franklin. There the subject of this sketch was married to here cousin, John C. Kirchner April 10, 1856. They came to Clark County in 1860, locating on the farm in Jackson township which has been ever since the home. To them were born seven children, one passing away in infancy. The husband survives together with the six children, Adam C. Kirchner, Charles Kirchner, John W. Kirchner, Henry B. Kirchner, Mrs. Robert Shannon, Mrs. Ed. Dewitt, all of Clark county. the parents of Mrs. Kirchner and two brothers, Henry and John Kirchner, of Lee county preceded her in death, but surviving are the following brothers and sisters, George Kirchner, of Donnellson, Ia.; Andrew Kirchner, and Mrs. Katherine Pechstein, of Keokuk, Ia.; besides many grandchildren and great-grandchildren."
Mrs. Kirchner was a faithful member of the Zion's Evangelical church.
