A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the lives of Gerald and Colette Theis will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 5, 2004 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring, MN. Gerald Theis, Sr., age 83, died Tuesday at the St. Cloud Hospital, and his wife Colette died Saturday at the Assumption Home in Cold Spring. Burials will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring, and from 9 - 10 Thursday morning at St. Boniface Church. Parish prayers will be at 7:00 p.m. and the Cold Spring American Legion and VFW Post members will pray at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

Jerry was born in Cold Spring to Frank and Lena (Schreifels) Theis. He married Colette Knese on June 3, 1947 in Holy Angels Church, St. Cloud. He was a WWII Veteran serving overseas at Ramsbury Air Base, England as a Radio Operator with the Signal Corps. He was employed over 30 years at the Cold Spring Granite Company. Jerry enjoyed gardening, fishing, woodworking, metal detecting and Ham Radio operating. He was a member of St. Boniface Parish and the Cold Spring American Legion and VFW.

Survivors include his children, Jerry (Renee), Anthony, Lawrence, James (Donna), Michael (Carol), Len (Helen), Joseph (Wendy), Mark, Mary (Jeff) Theis-Spoden, Carol (Duane) Hiltner, Joan (Gary) Stangler and John (Sandra); 27 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Bernie Garding of Cold Spring, Marie Vossen of Arlington, Julie Vossen of Inglewood, CA, Angie (Herb) Gohmann of St. Cloud, Lee (George) Schmal of Mankato, Elroy (Rosie) of Cold Spring, Del (Minnie) Torborg of Cold Spring, Renee (Clarence) Buerman of St. Cloud, +Irene (Jack) Boor of St. Paul, Richard (Larry Ann) of Tuscan, AZ and Ray (Carol) of St. Cloud.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Colette (July 31, 2004); parents and sister, Irene.
