Mrs. Esther M. Lemke, the daughter of Jacob and Minnie (Juers) Blumer was born January 10, 1899 on a farm in Liberty Township. After attending the rural schools of Hancock County she worked as a telephone operator in Garner for a number of years. November 26, 1919, she was married to John Lemke in Hancock County. They farmed near Klemme for forty nine years. After husbands death in 1968 she moved to Americana Healthcare Center in Mason City, where she lived until her death, Saturday, January 11, 1986.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church and U.M.W. at Klemme and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
