Jack held a variety of jobs over the years. He worked as a grocer, carpenter and truck driver at different times. The family moved to St. Louis, Missouri in the 1910's before returning to Calhoun in the 1920's.
Jack died at St. Joseph's hospital in St. Charles, Missouri as a result of heart failure. At the time of his death, he was 67 years, 9 months and 21 days old.
He was buried on 29 Jan 1955 and was survived by his wife, Vesta. She later remarried.
