Shawn Renee Smart Martin, resident of Ponca City, died Sept. 22, 2002, in Oklahoma City. She was 35.
Her funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, at Central Baptist Church with the Rev. John Waterloo, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Longwood Cemetery under the direction of Trout Funeral Home. Casket bearers will be Micky Keeler, Matthew Keeler, Paul Focke, Jimmy Beck, Tracy House and David Greer.
Shawn was born March 10, 1967, the daughter of Eric and Barbara Chambers Smart in Ponca City. She attended Ponca City schools graduating in 1985. After high school she attended Northern Oklahoma College, receiving her associates degree and then continued her education at Oklahoma State University where she received her bachelor's degree in education.
She had worked for J.H. Kelly and was currently employed by Kier CCC USA Petroleum Refinery Construction Company.
She was a member of Central Baptist Church, the labor union, and the OSU Alumni Association. Shawn was someone who liked to have fun. She loved to go "mudding" in her jeep. Spending time outdoors and playing with her children were her favorite things to do.
She is survived by her two adoring children, Allison and Brian Martin; her mother, Barbara Smart, all of Ponca City; sister, Kimberly Kay Ross and husband John "Tiny", of Irving, Texas; two brothers, Eric E. Smart Jr. of Ponca City and Darin Lee Smart and wife Brenda of Tonkawa; nephew, Christopher William Payne of Ponca City; and aunts, uncles, and numerous other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, both sets of grandparents, and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.
Memorial contributions may be made to Commercial Federal Bank, 400 E. Central, Ponca City, Okla. 74601 for her children.
