Our beautiful Verly graced this earth on September 9, 1937 for 71 years, and was called to heaven on August 1, 2009. She passed away peacefully at her home, as was her wish. Verly will be dearly and lovingly remembered by family and friends for her deep and abiding strength of character and honesty. We will miss sharing the things she enjoyed. She found her joy in being surrounded by family and friends. We will miss her optimism and her philosophy that laughter kept her young. In her typical reassuring way, she let her family know that this was her time and she had a good life. She was loved by her entire family, who circled her bed in prayer thanking God for her life and the example she was to each of us. Verly was greeted by her parents, Clemance and Lena Reed Klumpp, along with her brother Human James, all of whom she missed since they left this earth. Left to cherish her memories and miss her sweet face are her loving husband of 53 years, Ernest "Red" Broussard; two daughters, Julie Thompson with husband Tony of Grand Lake and Sarah Rothbauer with husband David of Katy, TX; one son, Mark Broussard with wife Dianne of Lake Charles; six grandchildren, Tiffany, Jordan with fiancé Marianna, Danielle, Matthew, Corey, and Nicholas; and two great grandchildren, Casey and Jace. Also survived by her a sister, Jane Trahan with husband Billy, a brother, Gary Klumpp with wife Julie, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. A special loving thank you goes to her Angel-in-care, Darlene Singley. The family would also like to thank the nurses, helpers, and staff of The Guardian House and Heart of Hospice for their care and friendships during her journey. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. The Rev. Keith Pellerin will officiate. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery, 2300 Country Club Rd., Lake Charles, LA, under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Monday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a scriptural rosary being held at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM in the funeral home, 4321 Lake St., Lake Charles, LA.
