George J Buhrman was born July 24, 1924 in Council Bluffs to the late George J. and Sophie (Koster) Buhrman, Sr.

He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1942. George worked at Mutual of Omaha for 47 years retiring as an underwriter in 1989. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rachel "Pinky" Buhrman in 1992 and four sisters. In 1993 he married Leonora "Lee" Sollazzo Pratt and moved to Omaha. He was an avid Democrat after he married Leonora. They attended both of former President Bill Clinton's inaugurations. George was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ and the Twenty Five Year Club at Mutual of Omaha.

Winston Churchill once observed that we make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give. George certainly knew how to make a living, but more importantly he recognized how to make his life one of faithfulness and peace. He strove to give not only of his possession, but also of himself that the needs of others might be addressed more justly, more faithfully, He learned that attitude, not only within his family of origin, but within a community of faith that surrounded him with an experience of God's gracious, abundant love. George's heart was the gift he gave back to the generous God whom he had come to know and worship in Christ Jesus.

Yea, though we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, we will fear no evil, for God is with you George.
We remember you George and give thanks to God for your life. May God comfort your family with your faith.
