Donna R. Biester, 76, of Topeka, formerly of Scranton, KS, passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2009.

She was born July 26, 1933 in Topeka, the daughter of Woodrow W. and Matilda (Tonetti) Slack. She was a 1951 graduate of Topeka High School.

She was a Life Member of the V.F.W. Ladies' Auxiliary, Post No. 2709, Scranton, KS.

Donna married Leroy A. Biester on July 28, 1954 in Topeka. He preceded her in death on September 23, 1996. She was also preceded in death by a son, Steve Biester, a step-grandson, Jimmy Biester, and her adopted grandson, Kevin Ellis. Survivors include two sons, Bruce Biester of Topeka and David Biester of Austin, TX; a daughter, Debra Nicol of Topeka; a sister, Carol Fleischer of Maple Hill, KS; 6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 6 step-grandchildren.

Mrs. Biester was cremated.

Graveside memorial services will be 11 a.m., Monday, August 10, 2009 at Osage City Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Scranton V.F.W. Post No. 2709 and Ladies'Auxiliary, sent in care of Kansas State Bank, Scranton, KS. Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel is assisting the family.
