John Schwalenberg

John Schwalenberg, 77, of 2202 Prospect Ave., New Holstein died Friday afternoon at University Hospital in Madison following a lingering illness.

A retired machinist at the former Hart-Carter plant in New Holstein, (now Lauson division of Tecumseh Products), Mr. Schwalenberg had been at Madison hospital 17 days.

Born in the Town of Herman, Sheboygan County, July 18, 1879, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schwalenberg. He attended the district school in Herman and later at Plymouth when his family moved there. He had lived most of his adult life in New Holstein, however, retiring from his work three years ago.

On Feb. 22, 1911, he married the former Adelle Volsteadt in New Holstein. He was a member of the Quarter Century Club of Hart-Carter Company.

Surviving are his wife; one son, Robert, New Holstein; one daughter, Mrs. Andrew Rozman (Irma Lu). Redondo Beach, Calif.; and five grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Albert, Detroit; and a sister, Mrs. E. P. Meyer, Puyallup, Wash.
