Bertha was born April 14, 1920, in Billings. She was the ninth child of George and Katherina (Reichel) Deines. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She attended Canyon Creek and Baselines schools in Billings.
On Nov. 20, 1938, she married Alec Popp, the love of her life, her soul mate. They were blessed with six children and raised them in the Christian faith. They farmed in Billings and Park City. They were short one month of sharing 60 years of marriage.
Bertha worked side by side with her husband, Alec, and still provided her family with the best home-cooked meals. She always had room at her table for one more. Her home was filled with love, laughter and music. Bertha's accordion music was enjoyed by many as she played in numerous bands with her family. Wherever Bertha went, she was loved by all.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Alec; her parents; her brothers, George, Henry, Alec, Solly, Bill, Emil and Harry; sisters, Molly Goodman and Martha Bangart; her granddaughter, Barbara Sue Icopini.
Bertha is survived by her two sons, Alec (Marlene), Robert (Diane); four daughters, Janice (William) Kramer, Nancy (Larry) Frank, Loretta (David) Frickel and Kathleen (Ray) Moran; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several great- great-grandchildren.
We would like to thank the doctors at the Laurel Medical Clinic. A heartfelt thanks to the Evergreen Laurel Health & Rehab for their loving care and kindness to our Mother and her family.
A special thank you to Pastor Grunst and Pastor Thompson for their prayers and guidance through a difficult time. We are thankful that God answered Mom's prayer, "Lord, take my hand and lead me."
