Ambrose G. Braun, 91, of 322 Indiana Ave., North Fond du Lac,died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2003, at All About Life Rehabilitation Center.
Ambrose was born Feb. 6, 1912, in Charlestown, a son of Joseph and Adeline Wagner Braun. On Jan. 21, 1936, he married Julia Bertram at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg. They celebrated 67 years of marriage in January of 2003.
In 1950, Ambrose and Julia bought a dairy farm and moved to the present homestead on Highway 175 near Van Dyne. Prior to farming, Ambrose worked for Hutter Construction, the Kohler Company, and Wisconsin Tractor. After retiring from farming, he worked at Giddings and Lewis until his retirement. Ambrose was a member of Presentation Catholic Church in North Fond du Lac and the Catholic Knights. He was an avid outdoorsmen who enjoyed fishing and hunting, and was a big fan of hockey, baseball,basketball and football. He also enjoyed boating and sturgeon spearing in shanties he had built himself, his time with his children and grandchildren, and dancing.
Survivors include five children, David (Dorothy) Braun,Elaine(Steven) Rusch, James (Kathy) Braun, Daniel (Yvonne) Braun and Joseph (Linda) Braun; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and four sisters.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2003, at Presentation Catholic Church in North Fond du Lac,with the Rev. John Simon officiating. Entombment will follow at Shrine of Rest Mausoleum.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday,
Sept. 2, 2003, and again from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday,
September 3, 2003, at the church.
