Steve was born on February 10, 1983 in Cuba City, Wisconsin, the son of Steven L. & Barbara J. (Murphy) Bertling. He was a veteran of the US Air Force. Steve was currently employed by Saladino Plumbing & Heating of Independence. He was a member of Plumbers Union Local #8.
His survivors include his fiancée, Carmen Garcia and a daughter, Anita Bertling, both of the home; his father: Steven Bertling & wife Sonia of Holden, MO; his mother: Barbara Halford & husband Chris of Mangum, OK; three sisters: Denyse Ward of Lee's Summit, MO, Lisa Bertling of Mangum, OK, and Rachel Bertling of Holden, MO; one step-brother: Branden Halford of Mangum, OK; and his maternal grandmother: Elizabeth Murphhy Dubuque, IA.
He was a victim of murder.
