From the book Allegheny Passage: The Fairview Church: The Fairview meeting house was built in 1883-1884 on an arm of Backbone Mountain, a location which gives it a panoramic view. Marcellus Wolfe, Wahington Arnold and James Abernathy were the carpenters on the building, assisted by many persons of the neighborhood. The church had two entrances at the west end and it is said that the men and women sat segregated. Elder Solomon Bucklew preached the dedicatory sermon.
